Hidey answers your  Frequently Asked Questions below:

QUESTION: I have a BMW M3 with Buffalo Nappa Leather seats. These seats are beginning to show signs of heat distress or damage on the sides. I was wondering if you do automtive leather restorations or cleanings.  ANSWER:  Yes, we do restoration, cleanings and repair on all automobile makes and models. Work can be scheduled to either go to your home if you have access to electricity in your driveway, or you can schedule an appointment to bring your car to us.

QUESTION: Hello: We just bought a new leather couch and I want to know which product I should use to keep it in good condition. The leather is smooth and glossy with a dark finish. The sales rep said to wipe off the dust weekly. Should I be using something to keep the leather soft and pliable too? Thanks ANSWER: I'm glad you asked! Leather is not synthetic so it is important that you do not damage the leather's pH balance when cleaning it.  Dusting will not harm your leather.  Using a damp cloth now and then will not harm it either but water will eventually dry the leather over time if a lot is used and will not condition your leather. Water also will not remove any body oils that are absorbed into the leather at the headrest and armrest areas. For that reason, we recommend that you ONLY use a product that is made specifically for leather furniture to clean your leather.  We sell our own specially formulated leather cleaner/conditioner which is called "Hidey's Beauty Treatment".  Hidey's Beauty Treatment also contains a stain resistant which helps in blocking stains and body oil from penetrating.  It can be used on all finished leather furniture.  To be safe, we always recommend that you test any cleaning product on an  inconspicuous area, such as under a cushion, before applying it to the whole piece.

QUESTION: How do I know if my furniture is "finished" or "unfinished" leather? ANSWER: Finished leather usually has a glossy or satin sheen while unfinished leather does not.  Unfinished leathers, such as "nubuck" or "aniline", did not have a clear top coat added during manufacturing in order to keep the original feel of the leather.  You lose some protection to get that luxurious feel so it is good to determine if the furniture will get a lot of use and possible staining before deciding to buy an unfinished leather.

QUESTION: I tore my leather jacket getting out of the car.  Can my jacket be repaired? ANSWER: If you have a finished leather jacket, including "distressed" leathers,  most cuts, tears and stains can be repaired.  If you have a suede jacket that is cut, it usually cannot be repaired without replacing that panel which may or may not be cost effective.  Some stains can be removed from suede.

You must bring or ship your jacket to our office at 423 Horsham Road, Horsham, PA 19044 for us to examine it in person and give you a price quote. Our office is open Monday- Friday from 8:30 until 2:30.

QUESTION: Hidey, we have a sun faded black leather couch- with a matching love seat. The couch is made up of variations of black leather (the fadings almost look brown). Can this be repaired? Thank you! ANSWER: Yes! We can restore the color to your sun-faded furniture making it look like it did when you bought it!  Some furniture is a flat color with no variations in tones.  Other furniture has variations in lighter and darker tones of the same color on it.  Although we can try to duplicate the original pattern as closely as possible, it may not be possible to get an exact match.
